The RGC South side are making history by representing North Wales in the national Dewar competition and also took part in a successful tournament in Italy last month.

A squad of 22 players, from North Powys and Sough Gwynedd, jetted out to Venice for the Carwyn James Easter Trophy held at Pieve de Centro, a small town near Bologna.

The tourists were welcomed by Llyr James, grandson of the legendary Carwyn James, former Welsh international player and coach of Llanelli and the British Lions, who the eight-team tournament is contested in memory of.

Dai Higgs, WRU rugby coordinator for RGC South said: "I would like to acknowledge all who have helped make this tour a success. Thanks to Goldstars, Welshpool Rotary Club and COBRA RFC for their donations and to Cambrian Training Company and Technocover for their generous sponsorship.
